A certain lack of street life

I spent last saturday afternoon wondering around downtown Salt Lake, An experience that was not wholley enjoyable. I was hopeing to pass sometime reading at a sidewalk cafe. There are few to zero sidewalk cafes in Salt Lake. One of the things that I like about big cities is the life on the streets. Salt Lake has none. The only places that had any sort of life were temple square and the gateway. This so off putting. Don't get me wrong I love living in the west is just seems that none of the cities out here have a street life worth taking part in.
