Aug. 5th, 2005 03:00 amBeen reading a friends LJ, which got me thinking about things. I got thinking about why I like the things I do. Why I enjoy them. The only common ground I found is storytelling and being with a group of people you have to trust. Snowboarding, Theatre and AD have this trait. Most theatre techies seem to come alive when talking of a past show. Snowboarding is best done with friends you trust and the lift ride or hike up is best spiced with a story or two. AD is many things sure teams can work with out trusting each other but it wont be fun. Storytelling in AD is just a way to avoid work.
The odd thing is that I am not a very social person unless I am in these situations. Though in the theatre I have a feeling a might be fast becoming an annoying person sense I talk so much. Which is something I dont want to happen. I have seen what happens to annoy theatre techies they spend alot of time doing stuff out of the way.
Anyway now that, thats been taken care and is off my mind. Tuesday was the Allison Krauss Concert at Deer Valley. Which for all the hard work that took place was one of the best and most fun things I have done all summer. Because the roadcrew was interesting and knew what they were doing. That made the work go fast and allowed for more down time. Not to say the work was not fun. I learned so much in so many different areas. everything from rigging to lighting. With the expection of sound which was less learning more questions I need to ask. Playing Frisbee was nice and fun. Until on the way down the frisbee made its way on stage and almost took out a mic. That was a *gasp* moment. Also one one of the road crew said I was a hard worker. Which was nice. Tomorrow I am planing on going mountain biking.
